Fire Procedures
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this module, employees will be able to:
-
Identify the Fire Drill signal.
-
Describe evacuation procedures during a fire emergency.
-
Demonstrate accountability procedures using F.A.C.E. Sheets.
-
Explain staff responsibilities during evacuation.
-
Understand re-entry and parent notification procedures.
Children, clients and staff must remain at the designated evacuation location until emergency responders determine it is safe to leave or re-enter the facility. Once emergency services arrive on the scene, they assume command of the emergency response and all employees and administrators will follow their instructions.
Children or clients should not be released to parents, guardians, or caregivers or transportation providers until emergency responders determine that it is safe to do so and administration has been authorized to begin the release process. This helps ensure the safety and accountability of every child, client, and employee and family during the emergency.
